About Us
Middle Indigo Primary School is a small rural school, 32km south of the district’s major regional centre, Wodonga. The staff currently comprises a Principal, two classroom teachers, business manager, music teacher, wellbeing teacher, and an education support–integration aid and we have a visiting MACC van (ART) and a MARC van (LIBRARY).
This year our census enrolment is 15 students. Our school is identified as a “paddock school” and has no natural feeder neighborhood. This is a school of choice.
We also provide specialist science and history across all ages to enhance students’ knowledge about the world around them. The school provides a vibrant arts program with a specialist music program for all children and individual fee for service instrument program for students that learn an instrument of their choice.
The school values the active participation in all forms of physical activities and is involved in the Sporting Schools program that requires all students to participate. We have a strong outdoor education and sport culture. We engage children in extended bike riding through bike education and our camps. Such an outdoor pursuit is designed to instill resilience and independence in children. We have children competing at district level competition in sport, and we support athletics, cross-country running and we have an intensive swimming program.
The culture of parents in partnership is very good at this school with a high number of parents involved in the school setting, Parent helpers, grounds and maintenance, School Council and generally high participation in school events. It is a very pleasing environment for children to learn.
Our school has developed a very strong culture around its vision and mission, ‘Rural living, learning and beyond.” At Middle Indigo Primary School, there will be an emphasis on student, parent, teacher and community participation and involvement in all areas of the school environment. We aim to offer a supportive and caring environment where students are encouraged to become well rounded, independent learners; tolerant, confident and happy people who can leave the school with the capabilities of reaching their full potential in the next phase of their education.
